Marriage ceremonies
Personalised ceremonies
A personalised ceremony can be held at any time and any location. I work with to create the ceremony you want.
What’s included:
Meetings to get to know you both and understand the kind of wedding you are thinking about. We will talk about what to include (and what you don’t want!). I’ll ask you about the story of your relationship and what’s important to you. I’ll ask you lots of questions!
Designing and writing a ceremony that reflects your wishes. You tell me what you are happy with and what changes you would like. I will rewrite as much as necessary. It’s important the ceremony reflects what you want. I can help with writing vows and finding readings and songs, if these are what you would like as part of your ceremony.
I can provide a Guide to Marriage Vows which includes ideas for vows and steps to writing your own.
Attending and coordinating the rehearsal, if one is required. I highly recommend you have a rehearsal if you are having a larger wedding.
Performing the marriage ceremony on your wedding day.
Making sure you are legally married (signing of the documents and sending to Births Deaths and Marriages, Department of Internal Affairs).

Registry ceremonies
Registry ceremonies are no longer officiated in registry offices but are conducted by registered independent marriage celebrants who are approved by Births, Deaths and Marriages. A registry ceremony has standard vows and must take place on a weekday (9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday). There are quite strict criteria for registry marriages.
To find out more about registry ceremonies, please visit Celebrants Aotearoa registry guidelines.
Information is available in Chinese, Samoan and Māori.
To apply for a registry ceremony, go to the New Zealand Government website.
