“We knew nothing when it came to planning a wedding, but Annelies was so helpful and guided us. She gave clear instructions on how to get the marriage licence. She also gave some recommendations along the way as regards vows and the venue. We were hoping to have a simple ceremony, and she gave us a ceremony beyond expectations. The ceremony felt very warm and special. She even learned some Indonesian words and pronounced my Indonesian partner’s full name perfectly. “We are a same sex couple and decided to legalise our relationship in NZ as our country doesn’t allow this type of marriage yet. We were very lucky to have chosen Annelies as our celebrant from the NZ Government website. She’s been very helpful since day 1. She provided all the information we needed from applying for a visa and getting a marriage license as well as organising the venue and even getting us witnesses at the last minute. I would highly recommend her as a celebrant because she knows how to take good care of her clients. “We've been a couple for over 30 years, we have two (grown-up!) children, and we wanted a very simple, happy wedding. We chose to have it in New Zealand, during an exceptional trip in February 2024. We contacted Annelies a few months before to organise it. Annelies has been wonderful from the moment we first contacted her. Our wedding, which took place at a friend's house on 6 February, went absolutely according to plan: Annelies listened to us, made suggestions and was on hand to help with the preparations.
